Monitor

The TRX is the most powerful factory truck ever sold — 702 hp supercharged HEMI V8, Fox shocks, and genuine Raptor-rival off-road performance. Extremely expensive to maintain and insure. Main risks: supercharger belt service at 60k miles, HEMI spark plug ejection (known on high-output versions), transmission cooling on sustained off-road use, and any use on the drag strip or sand dunes. Only buy with complete service history and no drag/race use.

Supercharged Engine

High Risk at 60k+
The Roots-type supercharger belt must be replaced every 60k miles. Belt failure destroys the engine.
Ask if supercharger belt has been replaced. Request service records for supercharger service date.
Est. cost: $1,200–$2,000 supercharger belt service Source: Ram TRX supercharger service schedule
High Risk
High-compression Hellcat engines have documented spark plug thread stripping and ejection, especially after repeated heat cycles from drag racing.
Check for any misfire codes (P0300 family). Ask about drag strip or performance driving frequency.
Est. cost: $1,000–$3,000 thread repair Source: Stellantis Hellcat spark plug pattern

Off-Road & Cooling

Monitor
Sustained off-road dunes or rock crawling cycles transmission fluid rapidly.
Ask about off-road use intensity. Request transmission fluid service records.
Est. cost: $300–$500 fluid service Source: AutoVetting editorial

Performance Use History

High Risk if drag-raced
Any drag strip, 0–60 competition use significantly stresses the supercharger, transmission, and driveline.
Ask seller directly about competition use. Look for launch control indicator wear on steering wheel buttons.
Est. cost: $3,000–$10,000 depending on damage Source: AutoVetting editorial

Documentation

High Risk without
At this price point and performance level, service records are non-negotiable.
Request ALL records. TRX without supercharger belt history = walk.
Est. cost: n/a Source: AutoVetting editorial
